Fisker Makes First US Deliveries Of Long Range Ocean One Electric SUV

Fledgling American electric vehicle company Fisker has begun deliveries of its Ocean One launch edition electric SUV to the first customers in the United States.

Fisker says it has delivered the first 22 Ocean Ones, with additional deliveries expected to continue through the remainder of the Northern summer.

Boasting a range of 580 kilometres (EPA), supposedly the longest range of any new electric SUV in its class, the Fisker Ocean One is powered by a 113kWh battery pack.

“We have been waiting for this moment ever since we started the development of the Fisker Ocean in October 2020,” said Henrik Fisker, chairman and CEO.

“We’re grateful our customers have been patient with us as we dealt with a longer-than-expected certification period earlier this year, and we’re happy their patience is now starting to be rewarded.”

Deliveries had already gotten underway in Europe thanks to a dual-market certification strategy backing the launch of the car simultaneously in Europe and the US.

Fisker was forced in May to lower production expectations for 2023 after lacklustre financials and slower ramp-up of production. The first Fisker Ocean SUV was only delivered in May after beginning of production in late 2022, though only 55 models were produced in that period.

At the start of the year, Fisker was aiming at producing up to 42,400 units, but has now dropped that to within a range of 32,000 to 36,000 units.
