An Irvine-based electric vehicle maker will provide custom vans, trucks and SUVs to AT&T under a new program aimed at cutting carbon emissions and improving safety.
Rivian Automotive will begin supplying its state-of-the-art commercial vans and R1 trucks to AT&T’s fleet early this year, according to AT&T officials.
The program signals a new chapter in the partnership between the Irvine automaker and Dallas-based AT&T, which is the exclusive provider of digital connectivity to all Rivian vehicles in the U.S. and Canada.
Rivian also partners with Amazon, which has ordered 100,000 electric delivery vans for use by 2030. Amazon currently uses more than 10,000 custom-made Rivian vans for deliveries in the U.S. and Europe.
