Renault Trucks Begins Electric Truck Sales Outside Europe

The Chilean transport company Trailer Logistics has purchased the electric trucks, which now drive on behalf of CCU, a brewery company that belongs to Heineken and the Quiñenco Group.

The new Trucks E-Tech D Wide electric trucks from Renault are to be used for beverage logistics, covering around 100 km a day and driving to various delivery locations in Santiago and the surrounding area.

The vehicles have a total battery capacity of 264 kWh, charged overnight at charging stations at CCU’s NPR distribution centre in Renca. Renault Trucks says its collaboration in this first operation included first analysing and optimising the logistic schedules, adapting the routes and helping its customers choose the infrastructure and install the charging points. Maintenance of the trucks is carried out in a certified workshop of the importer Salfa in Santiago to ensure the reliability, availability and operational efficiency of the vehicles.

Cyril Barillé, Vice President for the Africa, Latin America and Asia regions at Renault Trucks explained, “The realisation of this project is the result of the close collaboration between Trailer Logistics, the CCU brewery group, the Chilean electricity supplier Enel X, Salfa and the Renault Trucks teams. I would like to thank them for their trust and commitment.”

Renault Trucks has been producing electric trucks as standard in its French plants since 2020, which, until now, have only been delivered in Europe. Most recently, the food wholesaler Transgourmet Germany ordered ten E-Tech D Wide electric trucks from Renault Trucks. As the first customer in Latin America, the delivery to CCU was an important milestone for the French truck maker.
