Electrify America & Costco Wholesale Launch New Charging Station Partnership

Electrify America, the United States’ largest open hyper-fast charging network, has collaborated with Costco Wholesale to provide electric vehicle charging at five Costco locations. Increasing convenience for EV drivers, this will provide another location to plug in while shopping.

The charging stations include hyper-fast chargers with power capacity up to 350 kW, which will assist in meeting the growing need for open and convenient fast charging. It is a promising trend that may multiply, as with Walmart, because Electrify Commercial provides a unique opportunity for businesses such as Costco Wholesale to own their own charging stations while leveraging Electrify America’s experience building the largest open, DC-fast charging network in the United States.

I’ve successfully traveled long distances with a low-range EV by creating multi-state trips from Electrify America to Electrify America. The company continues to grow, establishing itself as a gateway to convenient spots just off the interstate for long-distance travel. And with a promising, continuously expanding network, Electrify America recently passed 1000 charging stations. “Our 1000th charging station marks a significant milestone for Electrify America and reinforces our commitment to convenient EV charging,” said Robert Barrosa, CEO of Electrify America. “In just over six years, our team has rapidly built an open, Hyper-Fast charging network across 47 states, the District of Columbia, and seven Canadian provinces to drive confidence in electric vehicles as the preferred choice for personal transportation.”

As Costco works out any issues, I’m sure the stations will emerge at more shops around the country. I know many EV drivers who shop at Costco. Everyone, especially non-Tesla drivers, enjoys the growing number of Electrify America stations. Many new EV drivers start their journey by charging for free at Electrify America, which is a common EV sales pitch, as seen with the VW ID.4.

This is one of the ways the business is catering to larger demographics like Tesla does. Both businesses are building ever-larger stations to service customers in cities and on the highway, and Electrify America is gaining momentum. My daughter, who appreciates her ID.4, seems to enjoy her time away from a hectic office and household charging at Electrify America stations, which she finds on her way to various job sites and retail locations. A respite in the day’s never-ending workflow provides her a little time out, only a little due to the speed of the chargers.

As noted above, Costco Wholesale owns the charging stations, created in partnership with Electrify America’s Electrify Commercial team. The charging stations will be compatible with nearly all electric vehicle (EV) brands, and Costco Wholesale sets the rate.
