EV Charging Company Monta Opens U.S. Headquarters in Miami

Monta, a Copenhagen-based platform for the electric vehicle (EV) charging ecosystem, announced the opening of its U.S. headquarters in Miami, FL. The company said it plans to connect 25,000 commercial charge points to its platform by the end of 2025 and 1 million charge points by the end of 2030. By the end of 2025, Monta said it will have 30 employees, including co-founder and CEO Casper Rasmussen, at its Miami headquarters.

According to Boston Consulting Group, nearly half of all new car sales in the U.S. will be electric by 2030, with 38% of Americans indicating their next vehicle purchase will be an EV. However, challenges remain with the charging experience in the U.S., as a quarter of all charges are unsuccessful, and an additional 12% are successful but with reduced power, according to ChargeHub. Issues range from user interface problems to software glitches and complex payment processes.

“As EV adoption picks up pace in the United States, industry players will need a platform like ours to take their business to the next level,” Casper Rasmussen, CEO and co-founder of Monta, said. “Across Europe, charging operators have been using Monta to scale up and deliver an improved experience for EV drivers for the last four years. Our customers and partners, many of whom already operate in the U.S. or have plans to expand here, have been asking us to bring Monta’s solution across the Atlantic to continue fueling growth across the EV charging infrastructure ecosystem. We are thrilled to announce our U.S. expansion and thankful to our partners and investors for their support in our mission of enabling e-mobility and electrification across the globe.”

Monta said its solution helps hardware manufacturers optimize their products by benchmarking charge point brands, providing insights into usage and performance, and accelerating troubleshooting and maintenance. Following its $87 million funding round in January, the company said it aims to replicate its European success in the U.S. market.

With two million monthly charging sessions and 165,000 commercial charge points on its platform, Monta said it partners with global entities like Siemens, hardware manufacturers like Rolec, and charge point operators like Uno-X and Eliso. As part of its U.S. expansion, Monta announced a partnership with Emobi to bring its software to over 118,000 charge points across the U.S. and Canada.
