Wallbox Rolls Out New EV Fast Charger in North America

Wallbox (NYSE: NYSE:WBX), a provider of electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions, has commenced production of its latest DC fast charger, Supernova 180, marking its introduction to the North American market. The company, which has established a presence in over 115 countries, aims to enhance the EV charging infrastructure with this new offering.

The Supernova 180 is designed to deliver up to 180 kW of power, enabling it to add approximately 100 miles of range to an EV in less than 10 minutes. Its compact design optimizes space usage, making it suitable for various locations, including those with limited space like gas stations and shopping malls. The charger’s modular design facilitates easy installation and maintenance, ensuring high uptime by allowing the unit to continue operating even if one of its six modules fails.

This third-generation charger builds on the success of its predecessors, the Supernova 60 and Supernova 150, which were rolled out in Europe. Since the launch of the Supernova series, Wallbox has sold over 2,000 units and facilitated more than 150,000 charging sessions globally. The Supernova 180 also boasts broad compatibility with EVs, featuring CCS1 and NACS connectors, and is expected to be available with these options throughout 2024.

The Supernova 180’s design has garnered industry recognition, receiving both the Good Design Award and the IF Design Award for its modern and minimalist aesthetic that blends into public and urban environments. The charger also emphasizes user experience with features such as a cable management system, multiple payment options, and a robust, sunlight-readable display. Wallbox’s General Manager of North America, Erik Fogelberg, expressed confidence that the Supernova 180 will address key barriers to EV adoption in North America, such as reliability and accessibility. The company’s commitment to innovation is supported by the Wallbox Care Program, which offers maintenance services to ensure minimal downtime for the charging units.

The announcement is based on a press release statement and highlights Wallbox’s ongoing efforts to contribute to the transition towards electric mobility by providing advanced charging infrastructure.
