Wyoming ranked second in the nation for states with the most charging stations per electric vehicle.Data released in August by the U.S. Department of Energy of alternative fueling stations showed there were 213 electric vehicle charging ports in the state for a total of 510 registered electric vehicles.
This came out to 41.8 charging stations per 100 electric vehicles. The only state with a higher rate was North Dakota.The state following Wyoming in most charging stations per electric vehicle was West Virginia.Since the online driver education resource Zutobi released its 2023 EV charging station report citing the data in August, the number has only increased.
There are now 230 registered electric vehicle charging ports at 89 stations in Wyoming — a large majority in Jackson, Rock Springs and Laramie.Jackson has around 50 registered charging stations, and the latest registration data from the Teton County Treasurer’s Office in 2021 revealed there were 180 electric vehicles and 633 hybrids. In Teton County, that’s still far behind the 34,003 cars running on gas.
