Zeekr (NYSE: ZK), the premium electric vehicle (EV) subsidiary of Geely Holding Group, has announced its entry into the Australian automotive market, expanding its footprint into Oceania.
Zeekr officially entered the Australian market on October 15 with the launch of the Zeekr X city SUV (sport utility vehicle) in Australia, according to a press release today.
This marks a new chapter in Zeekr’s journey, with the company’s EVs now available directly through dealers and previewed at pop-up locations across Australia, said Connal Yan, managing director of Zeekr Australia.
The Zeekr X was initially launched in China on April 12, 2023. Zeekr launched the 2024 Zeekr X on January 10 and the 2025 Zeekr X on July 1.
In addition to the Zeekr X, Zeekr also gave the Zeekr 009 MPV (multi-purpose vehicle) its Australian debut.
The Zeekr 009 was initially launched in the Chinese mainland on November 1, 2022, and is Zeekr’s second model after the Zeekr 001, with deliveries beginning in February 2023.On July 19, Zeekr launched the updated Zeekr 009 and its right-hand drive version in Hong Kong. As of today, the model is available in several international markets.
Zeekr sells its vehicles through dealerships in Australia, where Autoleague, John McGrath, and Stillwell Motor Group are among its official dealers.
The company has confirmed that it will further expand its presence by announcing additional dealer partners in the coming weeks.
Zeekr plans to open several pop-up stores in major Australian shopping centers in the fourth quarter to make it easier for local consumers to experience its vehicles, according to the company.
After entering the European market in June last year, Zeekr is rapidly expanding its presence in international markets, having entered multiple markets in Europe, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia to date.
The company plans to further expand its footprint in 2024, aiming to cover 50 global markets, said Chan Yu, Zeekr’s vice president, at the launch of the right-hand drive version of the Zeekr X on July 17 in Hong Kong.y
