Americans for Prosperity Wisconsin: Pushes Sen. Baldwin for Answers on Biden EV Mandate

Americans for Prosperity (AFP) today announced the launch of a new digital ad campaign in the Badger State calling on U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) to block the Biden administration’s efforts to ban gas-powered cars and force most Americans to drive electric vehicles.

President Biden’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recently announced a new emissions rule for light-duty and medium-duty vehicles that would require up to two-thirds of new cars and trucks sold in the U.S. to be electric vehicles (EVs) by 2032. U.S. Senators Pete Ricketts (R-NE) and Dan Sullivan (R-AK) have announced Congressional Review Act legislation aimed at blocking this new government mandate, but Senator Baldwin has thus far stayed silent on the issue.

AFP-WI State Director Megan Novak released the following statement:

“Biden’s latest EV mandate is just another example of how out of touch this administration is with Wisconsinites. We certainly don’t need the federal government telling us what types of vehicles we can and cannot buy in this economy, where rising food and energy prices are already destroying our family budgets. We simply cannot afford this level of government overreach any longer.”

“Senator Baldwin has been nothing but a rubber stamp to Biden’s inflationary agenda, and now, her silence on this latest federal mandate that will crush Wisconsin families and businesses speaks volumes. Wisconsinites deserve to know where Senator Baldwin stands: will she side with Wisconsin families who simply cannot afford or rely on electric vehicles or will she continue to be an ally of Biden’s radical agenda?”

The Biden Administration is moving forward with this new government mandate even as new Ipsos polling shows 3 out of 4 Americans oppose government regulations that would ban new gasoline, diesel, and hybrid vehicles. It also comes as GM, Ford, and Stellantis have laid off thousands of American workers in recent months as a result of decisions to end production of certain gas-powered vehicles and weakening demand for EVs.
