Belgrade Airport Introduces World’s First Free Solar-Powered Electric Vehicles Charging

Belgrade Airport, part of the VINCI Airports network since 2018, has pioneered the world’s first complimentary, off-grid solar charging for electric vehicles. In collaboration with Beam Global, the airport has positioned five EV ARC™ solar charging units in its Premium Parking P1 area, allowing passengers and visitors to power their vehicles using solar energy. This effort aligns with VINCI Airports’ dedication to reducing carbon emissions across the mobility sector while ensuring top-tier service quality for travelers.

Each charging station is capable of powering two vehicles at once, making it ideal for busy locations like Belgrade Airport. The initiative marks a significant step forward in Serbia’s development of sustainable infrastructure and underscores Belgrade Airport’s commitment to innovation and environmental responsibility. The airport supports these goals with various projects, including using solar energy produced onsite, cultivating green spaces, recycling waste, and fostering biodiversity.

“We are very proud that we have the opportunity to introduce this ground-breaking innovative solution for our passengers. Combination of our commitment to environmental sustainability and partnership with companies such as BEAM Global confirm that it is possible to ensure provide additional comfort for passengers with a minimum impact on the living environment. Charging vehicles using solar energy is an important step towards our goal – net zero CO₂ emission by 2050.” said Chivoine Rem, Belgrade Airport CEO.
